General Information

The IP address from the NetSuite environment is not static and potentially subjected to change. A change in the IP address could lead to a failing connection when the sFTP host is using IP whitelisting. On this page, we explain how to configure a reminder so that the sFTP SuiteApp checks daily the IP address from NetSuite and when this change notifies predefined users. These users can then take the action needed to restore the connection

IP White Listing

We do not recommend using IP-Whitelisting due to the fact the NetSuite IP address is subjected to changes. IP-Whitelisting does provide an additional layer of protection and is recommended only if the downsides are taken into consideration and are acceptable. This reminder option is only an additional feature to notify you when a change in IP address is detected, but can not prevent in any way delays in the data processing.

Setup

For the setup, the user needs to alter all the present connection configurations and if wanted define the email message in a saved search. How to do this is explained in the following sections.

Define user for notification

For each SftpCon Connection Configuration, the user must define the user that should receive a notification if the IP address changes. To set these users navigate to Setup > SFTP Connector > Connection Configuration and edit one of the existing records. In the main section the field labeled “Employee(s) to notify” will be visible under the “Main Settings”. Select in this field one or multiple NetSuite users that should receive the notification.

After the receivers have been set save the record to store the settings.

Define Email Message

The bundle comes with a default search named “SFTP Ip changed reminder”. To open this search simply past the name in the general search bar. After the search opens click on the blue button “Edit this search”. Navigate to the subtab labeled “Email” and then to the subtab “Customize Message”. In this section it is possible to define the following settings:

• From (Enter here from where the email should be sent using the format “name” <email address>)
• Subject (Your subject for the mail)
• Message (The message that is send to the receiver)

Save your setting and the email will be sent as soon as the system detects a change in the NetSuite IP address.

Do not alter other settings

Please do not alter other settings in the saved search because this could lead to a malfunction of the system what will result into the situation that no notification emails are sent out.

Dashboard reminder

It is also possible to add this saved search to your dashboard reminders, but keep in mind that the reminders in NetSuite are not interactive and do not update in real time.
